RULES OF COMPETITION

 

RULES OF COMPETITION FOR YOUNG SCIENCE WORKERS under the Third International Scientific Conference "Motor Abilities in Sports- Theoretical Assumptions and Practical Implications"

Goal:

The aim of the contest is to reward young scientists and motivate them to further intensive and creative scientific work.

Contest rules:

  1. Rules for participation in the contest.The contest may only be entered by individual persons, who are active participants in the " Motor Ability in Sports - Theoretical Assumptions and Practical Implications" Conference and meet the following criteria:
  2. a) The participant has individually presented a scientific work within oral or poster sessions. The author of the work may be an individual or co-author of a work written by a collaborative team (several authors).
  3. b) The participant may not exceed the age of 35.
  4. c) The applicant for participation in the contest submits the "Young scientist evaluation form" to the chairperson of the given Conference session (prior to its beginning), which, at the same time, is a declaration of consent to participation and acceptance of the Contest Rules (Appendix No. 1).
  5. d) In the "Young scientist evaluation form", the candidate provides his/her name, institute at which s/he is employed, birth date, authors and title of the presentation, method of presentation (oral or poster session), room No., day and time of presentation and the name of the session chairperson. These data are confirmed with the candidate’s signature.
  6. e) The contest participant presenting the work in a poster session is to download the ”Young Scientist Evaluation form” from the Contest Conference Secretary’s Office and submit the filled out form to the Office.
  7. Evaluation criteria:
  8. a) Scientific (cognitive) value of the work.
  9. b) Scientific justification and interpretation in the light of world literature on the aspect.
  10. c) Novelty of research methods and appropriate selection of research material.
  11. d) Manner of presenting scientific work: - clarity and precision of expression, - correctness of expression in Polish or English, - ability to focus audience’s attention to the problem, - scientific correctness regarding interpretation of the scientific research results, - page content and aesthetic appeal of the presentation.
  12. e) Novelty and correctness of scientific conclusions and their significance for the development of scientific research.
  13. f) Manner of expression during discussion on the work.
  14. Evaluation procedure.The chairperson sends the completed "Young scientist evaluation form" to the Conference Secretary’s Office immediately after the meeting. Evaluation of the work is confidential. Neither does the session chairperson nor the Conference Secretary’s Office provide any information before the Committee’s decision is made.
  15. Responsibilities of the Conference Secretary’s Office:
  16. a) Informing scientific workers about the possibility to participate in the contest for young scientists.
  17. b) Providing the scientists interested in participating with the "Young scientist evaluation form” at the time of registration, along with relevant information.
  18. c) Collecting the "Young scientist evaluation forms" from the chairpersons of the meetings, immediately after their conclusion.
  19. d) Submitting all filled out "Young scientist evaluation forms" to the Head of the Contest Committee.
  20. e) Preparation of diplomas and prizes for the awarded young scientists on the basis of a report submitted by the Head of the Contest Committee.
  21. Rules for Committee actions.The Contest Committee makes decisions about awarding the young scientists during its meeting.
  22. a) The Committee is composed of 5 members, designated earlier by the Director of the Conference under the guidance of the Head of the Contest Committee - Head of the Conference Scientific Committee.
  23. b) The Committee’s actions are solely based on objective and substantive grounds.
  24. c) The Committee makes decisions about awarding given participants based on feedback from the chairpersons of the scientific sessions and based on their best judgment.
  25. d) A report is drawn up regarding the Committee meeting. The report can be made by a person who is not a member of the Committee.
  26. Number of awards. During one edition of the competition (“Sports Motor Abilities - Theoretical Assumptions and Practical Implications" Conference), a maximum of 3 awards for oral and poster presentation may be granted.
  27. Forms of award. The person honoured receives a special certificate signed by the Head of the Competition Committee and the Director of the “Sports Motor Abilities - Theoretical Assumptions and Practical Implications" Conference. The diploma may be supplemented by another form of award. The participants with the best oral presentation and poster will receive a certificate.
